Update! Update! Read all about it!!

Phew...what a week...

I can hardly believe that my first week at the new job is already over. It was good. I went to all 4 offices and met everyone. Got some training. Seems like it's going to be fairly easy - the material, anyway. Not sure about the sales aspect yet. Ten cold calls a day...yikes! At least I get to be outside and meeting new people! I do like that part of the job! So far everyone is crazy nice (even the clients and prospective clients) and each office is full of personality. It's a job where you can really let your hair down, I appreciate that. It's going to be a lot of local travel, but I kinda think I might like that. I'm guessing that I'll average 400-500 miles/week. I'll get to spend time in downtown Norfolk and VA Beach as well as Suffolk - so it's like the best of all worlds. It's good, so far. I even got a paper-cut on my first day and today they bought me a Swingline stapler. I'm back in the business world, baby.

We are beyond thrilled with Ava's new daycare. Really, it's awesome! All of the caregivers are genuine and nurturing and kind. I feel like a HUGE weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I had to fight back the tears the first day that I picked her up and saw how content she was. It was such a relief. The atmosphere is so cozy. Ava's main caregiver speaks and sings in spanish to the babies!!! I LOVE that - it's such a bonus! She's also baby-crazy and almost every time I pop in she's on the floor playing with the babies. There are only 4 babies in the room, so Ava is 1 of 3 other babies. She's getting a lot of attention. They cuddle with her multiple times a day. Sigh...it's just really good. She still cries when I drop her off, but she stops as soon as I'm out-of-site and then she gets to playing - she's a very busy girl, you know. She also refused her bottles there. Today was the first day she drank a bottle for them (without me there). That was a HUGE achievement and the owner actually called me at work to celebrate it with me :) Oh yeah, and Ava comes home with a project a couple times a week. Today she colored a cut-out of Lincoln in honor of President's Day. Apparently she stabbed him with the crayon... Oh yeah, and she made a friend. There's another girl in the room who is 1 month older and they say Ava talks to her frequently and they play together. She sleeps really well there too. Anyway, I could go on and on, obviously. The bottom line is we're thrilled with the new daycare!

Chris and I have been adjusting to this new schedule and it's tough. We were in bed at 8:30 p.m. the other night b/c we were so wiped out. This waking up at 5:00 a.m. and going non-stop until we hit the sack is excruciating after a few days in a row. Unfortunately, my body is being all sissy about it and I'm fighting something (sore throat and chest). The laundry isn't done and we've done nothing to help out around the house. I also have to do all my shopping on the weekends now which is something I strongly dislike doing. Ah well, this is our life for the next 30 years...

We close on the new place soon!!! Not much else happening...time for bed...yeah, it's a Friday night and I'm going to bed before 10:00 p.m. and I'm quite happy about it. Trust me, you would be too :)

Have a good weekend!

I am so glad that the job is working out so nicely. And what a huge relief to hear what a wonderful atmosphere Ava is in every day. Sounds like a perfect situation.
