So yeah, Ava is going to be 2 in 21 short days. But who’s counting? I can’t believe that this time 2 years ago I was scrambling to get all her itty bitty onesies washed and folded in anticipation of her arrival. I remember asking Chris, “Do you think she’ll like her room?” Ha, we had no idea. Man, I just couldn’t wait to meet her and hear her voice. To think, here we are 2 years later. How exciting!
Ava is doing great! We think she just went through another learning burst. All of the sudden, out of nowhere, she’s doing and saying so much more than ever before. She’s talking in 3-4 word sentences. She has such a little personality too. When Chris gets her home from daycare in the evenings she marches past me with a quick glance and enthusiastic “Hi!” and heads straight for the pantry. She swings the pantry door open, points to the shelf with her goodies and says, “(s)nack p(l)ease.” She usually has a particular snack in mind and heaven forbid you select the wrong one. Then she heads for her toys and stops periodically to drink her apple-juice. Dinner time is interesting these days. She’s somewhat picky but usually open to try something once. Chris is really good at convincing (aka negotiating with) her to eat her food. Her favorites right now are the same as any toddler I’d imagine – chicken nuggets, spaghetti and pizza. Not to worry, she eats plenty of soy, fruit and veggies as well. She’s very much a girly-girl. She enjoys wearing dresses, jewelry and barrettes. She accessorizes. She has many purses and cell phones. Of course, she refers to her cell phone as a “hello.” She says, “My hello. Ava’s.” She gets really excited over new clothes too. Hmm, let’s see…she also likes to count now. Blue’s Clues is her current favorite show. She’s very into tracing her hand and anyone else’s for that matter. She’s a good little buddy to have around and we’re enjoying her immensely.
Chris still has his head above water, amazingly. His Accounting class is kicking his bum! He’s managing well so far. His Organizational Behavior class is very interesting and even I’m enjoying learning about it. I’m learning a lot just by being his proof-reader All in all I think he’s really happy with his (everyone’s) decision to go back to school. Over the weekend we went to a Hockey game (I’m not kidding) with his MBA program people and we got to talk to a lot of different people who have been in the program for much longer than Chris. I found it to be very reassuring. Apparently Accounting and Finance are the most difficult/time consuming classes. Supposedly he’ll have semesters down the road that are a much lighter load. That’ll be nice.
I’m hanging in there. It’s tough with Chris occupied so much of the time but I’m fairing better than I’d expected. Come to find out, I like my time! Most recently I’ve been working on process improvement around the house. I’m developing better work-flows…so far so good. Work is still wonderful. I got a bit swamped and spent the majority of the last weekend in there playing catch up but I’m almost there. I still really enjoy the job and the people. How many folks do you know can say that? Exactly. I’m lucky! Hopefully the housing market will pick back up so that I can keep my wonderful job :-/ I tried a yoga class too a couple weeks ago and I wasn’t impressed. I decided to get a gym membership instead (includes yoga classes). I went to the gym yesterday for the first time in probably 2 years. It was FANTASTIC! I forgot how much I adore it. I feel like a new person, a sore new person. What else is new with me? I think that’s it.
We’re looking forward to Chris’ brother’s wedding coming up in a month here…we can’t wait to see the family again and to meet the twins!! Yay! It’s always exciting for Chris’ family to see Ava because she changes so much each time.
Well, I’m procrastinating. I don’t know what I have to do other than iron…our washing machine is broken. Maybe I’ll treat myself and go to bed early tonight. I really don’t remember the last time I didn’t feel swamped…perhaps I’m forgetting my giant to-do list right now. Hmph. Well, I’ll regret this tomorrow when I’m running around like a mad woman trying to get caught up. Regardless, I’ve rambled enough now.

OUTTAKES...
