"We're all people of the same planet earth..."

This was an insanely fun and weird weekend! My very dear friend of ~16 years, who swore she would NEVER get married, tied the knot yesterday evening. I know. Crazy. I’m still trying to wrap my head around it. I was flattered when she asked me to take photos for them the day before the wedding. You can see those below.

The rehearsal dinner at the beach was just crazy. The outpouring of love was almost too much to handle. “The Bubble” went out of their way to create an atmosphere that was perfect for the occasion. There was more food than even I could manage to eat! They had a real live DJ with fancy speakers and quite an assortment of tunes. There were centerpieces on the tables. The “green rooms”, aka Porter Pottys, were decorated. I kid you not. They were decorated with wreaths, lights, tulle, bows… There were speeches being made – in English, Spanish and Spanglish nonetheless! Some speeches tugged at the heartstrings while others left the crowd in pure bewilderment (hence the subject of this post). As the night progressed the tables of food got pushed to the side to create a giant dance floor.

I should probably mention that the groom and his family are from Venezuela. Translation: they’re not bad looking and they can dance! Chris said, “They all look like movie stars!” It’s true. Movie stars who can wiggle their hips! We got a Latino beat going on the fancy speakers and before I knew it everyone was dancing…everyone…really, everyone! It was SO much fun! I’m still sore in fact.

The wedding was beautiful and the bride was GORGEOUS! The food was out of this world. We got another taste of Venezuela during the last hour of the reception. They call it “Crazy Hour” I believe. That’s an understatement. I think I burnt more calories during “Crazy Hour” than I could in a marathon. It was New Years 2000 all over again. There were noise makers, masks, hats, streamers, beads, etc. Everyone was dressed up in this gear and just going nuts with the music. Heaven forbid you try to sneak off the dance floor for a breather! You’d get shoved right back in the middle.

I’m sure the bride and groom are happy it is behind them now as they hop on a plane…I’m still a little sad though that it’s already over. It goes so quickly. What fun!
